Which toy should
I select?
There are a lot of sex toys out on the market that offer different
pleasurable stimulations. As long as you can figure out what sort of
stimulation you want, you will be able to pick out the ones you want.

How long can I
expect my vibrator to last?
The average vibrator will typically last a year
or more, depending on how often they´re used and how well they´re
maintained. It´s always possible that a vibrator could simply quit working
after several months, but fortunately this isn´t the norm. Factors that
influence the longevity of a vibrator are construction quality, frequency
of use and quality of care.

Dildos or
Dongs?
Most
people have heard of the terms dildos and dongs. They often ask what is
the difference between the two. There really isn´t any significant
difference. They are basically used for insertion. Whether vaginal or
anally. To pick the right dildo or dong, you will want to consider the
degree of hardness, length and girth of these toys.

How should I
clean vibrator?
Vibrator care includes frequent cleaning. Wash your vibrator
with adult toy cleaner or a mild soap and water solution before and after
use. Waterproof vibrators are easy to clean because you don´t have to
worry about exposing the internal electrical components to moisture. Just
be sure the cap is tightened securely. Non-waterproof vibrators are a
little tricky, but relatively easy to clean. Either spray the shaft with
adult toy cleaner and dry it off with a clean towel, or wipe the shaft
with a moist washcloth and a little soap. Be sure to use the mildest soap
you can - dishwasher liquid is good to avoid. A mild hand or facial soap
or mild shampoo is fine. Be very careful about exposing the base of the
vibrator to water. Moisture will corrode the delicate electronic equipment
inside any vibrator. It´s also important to remove the batteries if the
vibrator will be sitting for a long period of time between uses. It´s OK
to leave them in for a week or so, but if you plan on letting your
vibrator sit longer than that it´s best to remove the batteries. Batteries
contain materials that are extremely corrosive to metal, and as they age
they can leak causing internal damage.

Lubricants. Why
should I use it?
First of all, you have to decide what you are using the
lubricant for. Is it for vaginal intercourse? Is it for anal penetration?
Is it for masturbation? Or is it for fun? Currently there are two kinds of
base for lubricants: water-based and oil-based.
Water-based are a
lot thinner in texture than oil-based lubes. They are safe to use on all
toys whether they are made with silicone or latex. They are also usually
the ones that come out with flavored lubricants. Water-Based lubricants
can be used for all intended purposes whether you are using it for vaginal
or anal penetration. However, beware of using any flavored lubricants for
penetration. The flavored lubricants all contain glycerin or sugar which
gives them the sweet flavor. The sugar in these novelty lubricants will
change the sensitive pH level of a woman´s vaginal making her susceptible
to yeast infections. These lubricants have flavors like strawberry, lime
and kiwi. They are only meant to be used for fun like licking them off
each other´s nipples etc. There are some fantastic water-based lubricants
for penetration out on the market. However, when you want lubricants for
anal insertion, you should use oil based lube.
Oil-based
lubricants are usually made from natural products, such as vegetable oils
and nut oils, oil-based lubes tend to stain fabrics and can be difficult
to wash off, but they are safe for use with the vagina. Oil-based lubes
also destroy latex, so they should never be used with condoms, diaphragms
or cervical caps. Oil-based lubricants are great for anal sex, vaginal
intercourse, and male and female masturbation.

Why does my new
toy have smell?
If you´ve ever bought a new latex, silicone, Cyberskin,
NewSkin, Ultraskin, or jelly adult toy, or if you´ve just purchased one,
you have undoubtedly noticed the unusual and sometimes strong smell they
produce. The smell is completely normal, however annoying it may be. It
isn´t toxic or dangerous - unless you´re allergic to any of the materials
- and it won´t last forever. The quickest way to eliminate the smell is to
take it out of the wrapper, and store it in a place where it gets plenty
of fresh air. Also it is a great idea to wash your new sex toy with adult
toy cleaner as soon as you take it out of the box. Many toys, especially
jelly, Cyberskin, NewSkin, and Ultraskin come directly out of the box with
a powdery or greasy residue. This coating is intended to protect the toys
surface until you bring it home, but unfortunately it smells bad and/or
feels greasy. Adult toy cleaner is the best way to remove the residue,
give your new sex toy a fresher scent, and keep it looking and feeling
like new. Adult toy cleaner is safe for all toys - the same cannot be said
for all soap. For example, dish soap is not a good idea. A very mild soap
like Dove or baby shampoo is best, if absolutely necessary.
|
What is that
film on the surface of my new toy?
Many adult toys arrive from the manufacturer with
a protective coating that can feel greasy to the touch. It is very common
to find this coating on jelly toys, although other adult toys may also
have the coating. It is completely safe, washes off easily with a little
soap and water or adult toy cleaner, and is intended to protect the
surface of the toy until it reaches its final destination.

Why does my
vibrator rattle when I turn it on?
The main reason for rattles and other unusual
noises is a missing battery compartment insert. Most vibrators come with a
paper or plastic insert that lines the battery compartment. Don´t throw
this away! It´s an important part of your vibrator. The insert consists of
a rectangular sheet of paper or plastic that is rolled up and inserted
into the battery compartment of many vibrators. This insert serves several
functions. First, it acts as insulation between the batteries and the
external casing. Without the "insulation" the battery is free to knock and
rattle against the outer shell, causing a lot of unwanted noise. With the
insulation, the battery is shielded from the casing, and fits more snugly
into the compartment, preventing extra noise. The insert also helps
prevent any battery leakage from immediately coming in contact with the
outer shell. If you lost or threw away your insert: Don´t worry! It´s very
easy to make a new one. Just cut a piece of paper or thin plastic into a
rectangle. Make it as deep as your battery compartment. For example, if
your toy holds two batteries, make the piece of paper as high as those two
batteries, or maybe 1/8" shorter. Make the width of the paper wide enough
to wrap around your batteries once. Insert this piece of paper, insert the
batteries, and give it a try. It should do the trick. You can experiment
with different thickness paper if there is still some rattle in your
vibrator, or you can try overlapping your insert to make it thicker.

What materials
are most sex toys made of?
The majority of sex toys are made from jelly.
Jelly is a natural choice for sex toys because it´s easy to work with,
withstands the treatment most toys are subjected to and is relatively
inexpensive. It´s also popular because it´s soft, flexible and feels good
to the user.

How do I open
the battery compartment on my vibrator?
There are three types of battery
compartments, each with it´s own method of entry.
Standard
Base: Most standard or "slimline" vibrators have a base controller
that falls into the "standard base" category. A simple base consists of a
"cap" at the bottom of the vibrator that is removed by twisting in a
counter-clockwise rotation. Sometimes these caps can become difficult to
remove, either because the manufacturer secured it very tightly or because
they haven´t been removed for quite some time and have become stuck. If
you have this problem we recommend tapping the base against a hard surface
lightly to loosen it up a bit. It´s important to note that these base
controllers usually have two parts - one part that twists onto the
vibrator shaft, and another part that is used to adjust the vibration
levels. Be careful not to twist the adjustment knob when tightening or
loosening the cap - only twist the part of the base that actually connects
to the vibrator. It´s possible to damage the adjuster knob with hard or
forceful twisting. Once your vibrator´s battery compartment is exposed,
it´s usually a simple matter of inserting the correct size batteries and
securing the base back into place.
Multi-component Base:
Some vibrators, for example clitoral vibrators or dual-purpose vibrators,
have a base controller with multiple switches or knobs. This type of
battery compartment is usually accessible through the back of the base
controller. If you look at the knobs or switches on the base, and then
turn it over there should be an arrow or a "thumb grip" marked by an arrow
or a series of parallel lines. To open the battery compartment, simply
place your thumb or forefinger on the grip and slide the door in the
direction of the arrow. Some doors will slide directly down, and some will
slide down slightly and then require that you lift the door upwards, as if
they were on a hinge. Once the battery compartment is exposed, insert the
batteries in the direction shown in the battery compartment, close the
door and you´re ready to enjoy.
Remote Battery Pack:
Vibrators are often connected to a battery pack via an extension or power
cord. It´s common for butterfly vibrators and hands-free clitoral
massagers to have this type of setup. To open the battery compartment,
take a look to see if there is an arrow, or a note that says, "push to
open", or other similar instructions. Once you find the arrow or the
indented area with instructions, place your thumb there and slide the door
downward. The door should open, exposing your vibrator´s battery
compartment.
